Firstly it’s all about avoiding trouble and staying switched on if I see trouble coming I can avoid it, using target hardening, staying aware of your surroundings. But sometimes you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time and violence is the only answer, when you look at what works in the street at what’s practical, I think it’s important to break it down and look at the core of what works for most of the people most of the time, after studying what’s taught by people who have been there and done it an also thousands of clips on the net, I’ve found that from the untrained idiot to the skilled self protection instructor there’s a few things they all have in common when it comes down to it
Keeping it as simple as I can an in no particular order
1 overwhelming violence/aggression/mindset
2 keep it simple
3 hitting hard to the head
4 attacking first/by surprise
5 hands are king on the street
6 positioning and movement
So when you’re looking for something practical base it on these, were as fights can be won with pure violence and aggression with the right mindset, if your training for it there’s one thing that people miss out on
The ability to hit hard under pressure, no matter what techniques you use or train if you can’t /don’t do it under pressure your training wrong
everybody’s different, shapes and sizes what works for one might not work for others, the only way to find what works for you is to be honest with yourself if you can’t hit seriously hard learn to. Once you’ve got that, it gives you a much greater understanding of what it’s about
And remember when pressure testing your stuff it’s not about give and take
Don’t care what you do I’m doing this until safe
The easier something is to learn, the quicker you can get better at it
And that is the absolute basics, that’s what I base Instinctive combatives on. What I teach is very open I believe it has to be because every-body's different shapes and sizes and people have different backgrounds,
I use basic concepts based on using the body’s natural instinctive way it responds when learning how to build power and co-ordination, teaching natural ways that the body will move and react.
I then testing that under realistic pressure so the student can get a real understanding of the way the body reacts and what their body is capable of doing when in a violent confrontation,
also if people have their own ideas of what works for them I test that under pressure an see if I can improve what they’re doing or show them something easier that does the job just as well, so it’s very open it has to be, But no matter which way you use your arms or legs or how you shape your hands,
The basics of power generation are the same so to me that is the key, along with being able to test it at full force full speed to find “truth under pressure" ss

It’s been just over six years of training and I’d say things have come together nicely.
Since I started training it’s always been for reality and the street the principles I started with have not changed one bit they’ve always been the same, what has changed over the years is the way I develop power because I’ve always looked to improve what I do and to take what I do to the highest level I can.
A year and a half ago I realised someone else with the same passion for reality had been there done it like many others but this was different more powerful than anything I had seen or tried, and it lacked a lot of the additions and complications of many of the "systems” out there another major difference was the movement and "walking" no set stance to get into just what comes natural, training with Dennis at the seminar really sent home his knowledge. What on the surface looks simple is actually very deep. The absolute solid basics for the street fighter or self defence practitioner alike
The blue prints for a street fighter ,combatives/SD training plus the knowledge that can take a hell of a lot of people to whole new level including sport fighters from boxing to Muay Thai and MMA and k-1 there’s only a few people that strike with serious power like Fedor and Tyson and Badr Hari these are the same basics I learnt from Dennis and that’s exactly what I teach now wholeheartedly open or closed hand the basics are the same
So if you want to hit as hard as Dennis and want to know how he landed the big shots I’m more than willing to show you the basics, simple and straight to the point power punching/striking for the ring or the street, movement and set ups for the street and all your self defence training needs
